World’s Best Shopper

March 10, 2011

I officially declare myself the world’s best shopper. No autographs, please.

Seriously though, I got an email from Kohl’s today that looked like this:

And I thought, “Welp, I’m in the market for new stuff. I’ll give it a look-see.”

Boy, am I glad I did!

I got this Vera Wang Down Comforter, originally priced at $359.99…

 for $144!

***

But that’s not all. I also got this Memory Form Mattress Topper, originally priced at $149.99…

 for $59.99!

Can you even stand it?

***

Last but not least, I just had to get something for myself. :) At these prices, I couldn’t resist.

I love this Relic watch, originally priced at $65…

 for $48.75!

***

I was tempted to get the white version, since it’s so popular right now. But I already own a white watch and this is just too unique to pass up.

And that’s not all. On top of saving pretty much 50% on everything, I got an additional 15% by searching RetailMeNot.com for a coupon code. And THEN, free shipping. And THENNNN, $40 Kohl’s cash (for every $50 you spend, you get $10 Kohl’s cash).

You want proof? Gladly…

I know.

I may be a nerd, but I know how to save.

Sale ends Tuesday. Let me know what you get!

Getting Organized

March 9, 2011

Not happening. Well, at least as fast as I would like.

The more crap I bring to the house, the more I feel overwhelmed. And on top of that, I’ve been cleaning for 3 straight weeks and it seems to be getting dirtier. I mean, I’m finding dust and hair one should never find dust and hair.

Like the stove. Um, yeah.

I was mopping the kitchen floor and a big hairball came out from underneath. I thought, “Oh yeah, forgot to get under there…” Thinking a little dust, maybe? No, I used 3 whole Swiffer Dusters. It’s like the stove is growing hair…

Enough of my cleaning tangent – wooosaaawwww…

Today I started searching for items to help me become a little more organized. Since the house is small, storage is key. But the difference between me and Danny Tanner is that I want to find ways to make storage and organization cool. I don’t want to look that obvious and that nerdy.

(sorry Danny)

Starting with the bathroom – if the first room I enter when I wake up is clutter-free, it’ll be a good day. These simple and cute lacquer bath accessories from West Elm will do the trick…

***

While I’m on the lacquer kick, these items would make my office a lot more organized than it is now. Meaning: Not at all.

***

How about when you first walk in? Where do you PUT everything? The last thing I want to do when I get home is walk to my room and put away my coat and purse, walk into the kitchen and put away my keys, walk into the garage and put away my shoes… you get the idea.

Enter my love…

***

If I could marry an inanimate object, I would marry this thing. Bonus: it’s on sale.

Now onto my drinking habits. Yes, even that needs some organization. I’m a real mess, people. I found this awesome wine rack, also from Pottery Barn. It doesn’t take up space, and it’s not entirely huge. Since, well, I can never seem to hold on to wine longer than a week. So, I would never really have that much wine to store anyways.

Luckily, my closet is organized. It’s the only organized thing in that house.

Do you have any (cool and/or Danny Tanner-like) organization ideas?

Wedding Dresses

March 8, 2011

If my ‘Happy Weekend’ post would’ve worked, you would have known that I went down south for the weekend to visit family and to help my sister find her wedding dress. This was a big task since I have never helped anyone pick out their dress for their wedding.

I brought with me an open mind, some ideas, and a bottle (or 3) of champagne. And although we were scolded and shunned when we popped our bottle (say whaaaat? this is supposed to be a celebration – nevertheless, we remained sober), we found the perfect dress. Now alls we have to do is wait a year to see it again. An entire year!

Seeing the flurry of women trying on tons of dresses was exciting. There were so many to choose from – how can a girl expect to find the one amidst the hundreds of dresses?! Luckily, we found it in record time – 2 hours. I was expecting to be there all day, hence the 3 bottles, but my sister had her list, knew what she liked, and had the expertise opinions of me, my brother’s gf, and our Marm. If anything, she pretty much had the most stylish women around – at least in that wedding shop.

But this experience made me think, when it’s my time… what do I like? Naturally, I started to prepare. You never know, right?

True to form, my choices are all over the place. I love them all – they have their differences, but they also have their similarities. Looking at them again and again, I noticed a few constants that will remain my staples when it’s my time:

  1. Sweetheart Neckline
  2. Waist-Accentuating Pieces
  3. Soft and Breezy
  4. Splash of Color

What’s your favorite?

Moving

March 8, 2011

For some reason, my “Happy Weekend’ post didn’t post on Friday. Like I have said before, ah technology…

I didn’t post last night because we are in the midst of finally moving in to the house.

So I’m slacking. What of it. At least I have a good excuse. :)

We spent our first night in the house last night, and surprisingly, I didn’t get creeped out. Good start!

And the Moosehead didn’t know what to do with herself. All these woods floors and no carpet? Every time she walks it’s like she’s tap-dancing. This means we really need to get on the rug-buying ball, people. It was cute as first, but when a Beagle starts smelling something at 3 am, it’s not so cute. Trust me.

And I wasn’t about to join her in her lil’ dance, either…

Look out for post #2 later today… have a great day!

Farm Doors

March 3, 2011

Ever since I saw this picture…

***

I’ve been obsessing over farm doors. I’ve even been trying to figure out a way to put one in our house.

Replace sliding glass door to patio? View of conservation would be obstructed.

Our closet since the door is missing? Won’t fit.

Bathroom like the one above? Wouldn’t ‘mesh’ with the interior.

Front door?  Hmm, now we’re talking!

I haven’t mentioned this idea  to the ManFriend yet. Maybe I’ll bring it up while he’s all liquored up from next week’s celebratory coladas.

Yeah… sounds like a plan…

 Muah hahahah

I nearly cried tears of joy for that last one. Sigh. And it features my color of the year.

I think I’m going to add an extra rum shot or two to those coladas…
