Swept Away

May 16, 2011

Although it’s still Spring, it’s becoming increasingly hot and humid here in Florida. There are some days I can’t stand to leave the house. And it’s only May. Being that I live in Florida and there’s no escaping the humidity, us girls have to get a little creative with our hair. Sure, ponytails do the trick, but they can get old quick. And the tomboyish hairstlye hardly goes with everything.

Enter the side-swept messy chignon. Ahh, it’s like a breath of freah air for tropic-dwelling girls.

Easy, breezy and effortlessly beautiful…

Adding accessories can really dress it up – I’m saying “I do” to this one…

Sexy, classic, chic…

Do you have any other hairstyles you turn to when the heat is on?

yes, of course these ladies probably had stylists working on their hair for hours, so it may be a little hard to get the perfect messy look. i’m going to attempt to track down a great tutorial – for us all!

I’m always a fan of the braided bangs, like Lauren Conrad made so popular a few years ago. Doing something unexpected like that helps dress up a ponytail or messy bun. I’ve also seen pinned curls that look too difficult for this bird, but I’m sure can be done easily enough.

Love reading your stuff, Rach. Keep up the great work!
