Mason Jars

February 2, 2011

I’m started to notice a recent trend in decorating: mason jars. It’s fascinating to me that an item that is so basic, so simple, can bring out the most beautiful displays.

Not only are mason jars becoming a staple in weddings and parties…

… but in home decor as well…

One of my goals this year is to make my own mason jar chandelier. There’s something about their rustic beauty that makes any setting feel warm and inviting.

What do you think of the mason jar trend?

Earth-Friendly Furniture

February 1, 2011

One of my new life resolutions (I don’t believe in yearly resolutions anymore) is to make more earth-friendly purchases. I must admit it can be a little more expensive, but the benefits far outweigh any hit I take on my wallet.

Reclaimed wood is my current obsession. I found this website and it has now become one of my faves. They have an entire section dedicated to furniture made from reclaimed wood.

I’d love to have these pieces in my collection, but I’ll just drool on my keyboard for now…

Morning hair wouldn’t look all that bad if I had this Mosaic Mirror in my bedroom – simply stunning.

This teak cabinet is more delicious than the vino it would hold – and that’s saying something.

A vintage-looking bookcase with a ladder – I have no words…

Back to Reality

January 31, 2011

Hello real world, oh how I’ve missed you so! (not)

Alabama was amazing – the weather was perfect, the cellphone was off, and the company was great.

I spent about 85% of my time in sweatpants and no makeup. I could get used to lazing around all day doing nothing. But, every good thing must come to an end. So we said our farewells to the hills and the sweatpants – and hello to traffic and high heels (well, I wore wedges today).

I’ll post some pictures from our trip this week – but tonight, the ManFriend and I are off to celebrate our 5-year anniversary.

I didn’t want to leave you without at least 1 image from our trip – beautiful Alabama pecan trees hibernating for the winter …

Sweet Home Alabama

January 26, 2011

Greetings from Alabama! It’s not my home, but it is pretty sweet. The weather is cool and crisp, and there’s not a brake-light in sight. It’s glorious.

I’m taking a much-needed vacay from the real world, but I wanted to let you know first (don’t worry, I haven’t jumped ship off this blog yet!). Internet access is a rare commodity here, so I’ll be back blogging on Monday. Till then, enjoy the rest of  your week, salted chocolatiers!!

Rainy Days

January 21, 2011

It’s been raining all day here in the Bay, and I couldn’t be happier. I love days like these – the overcast sky always seems so romantic, while the sound of raindrops tapping on my window leave feeling me overly relaxed and somewhat sleepy.

It’s days like these that make me want to curl up and watch a good movie. My movie of choice would be 500 Days of Summer. Have you seen it? It’s an offbeat romantic comedy about a woman who doesn’t believe true love exists, and the man who falls for her.

I highly suggest it.

However, if you’re out and about today (which I am, unfortunately) these bright rain boots and adorably cute coat would be the perfect accessories on a wet day.

How do you plan on spending your rainy day?
